Closing

Closing on your first home may be both the most exciting and scariest days of your life. If you’re prepared, it can just be exciting.

Closing is a well-defined and practiced legal and financial transaction. You’ll be signing a tall stack of legal documents and writing a rather significant check (or seeing one pass from your lender to the seller). Your first time it can seem like everyone else knows exactly what they’re doing and you’re just along for the ride.

But don’t worry. That’s why you have built a team you can trust. Your Dunes Marketing Group Realtor will help you prepare. Your lender will have everything ready. Your closing attorney, required by South Carolina state law, they’ll be there make sure everything is done exactly right for you.

There will be a small crowd around the closing table and lots of paper works. Basically, here’s what will happen:

• You (or your lender) pay the buyer.
• You will sign a great many documents.
• The closing attorney will disburse money (your money!) for taxes and the closing costs (things like the title search and finance fees).
• The title for the property will be recorded in your name and properly filed with Beaufort County.

And most importantly: you’ll receive the keys to your new home on Hilton Head!
